The Sower: August 2018

Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing. – 1 Thessalonians 5:11

We seem to live in a “tear down, throw it away, disposable” world. Instead of fixing things, we tear it down and start over.

If something breaks, we go buy it new as it would cost more to have the old one repaired. This may work, agree or not, in regard to buildings, roads, and everyday products, but this mindset must not transfer to human lives.

The spoken word is powerful and can either build up or tear down. It is way past time for us to each guard the words we speak. Our words should be like a brick layer – creating a positive and firm foundation in other’s lives, rather than like a wrecking ball that tears down and damages all who hear.

Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear. – Ephesians 4:29
