The Sower: December 2018

“And having been warned by God in a dream not to return to Herod, the magi left for their own country by another way. Now when they had gone, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Get up! Take the Child and His mother and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod is going to search for the Child to destroy Him.” – Matthew 2:12-13

Many people in the Bible were directed by God to take “another way” either physically or mentally, and sometimes both, to get where God wanted them to go. In Matthew, after the birth of Jesus, the magi were instructed to take a different route home and Joseph was instructed to take Mary and the baby Jesus and flee to Egypt due to Herod’s evil plans.

In Exodus, Moses was called to leave his homeland, go to Egypt, and lead God’s people to freedom. In Acts 9, as Paul was traveling to Damascus, God called him to change his mind’s path from persecuting God to representing God and preaching the Gospel. God wants to guide each and every one of us down the path to eternal life. He is available every minute of every hour or every day for us to call out to Him and get “right life directions”.

But, we have to choose to call out to Him and then be willing to not only listen to, but follow His directions. How many times has God had to “recalculate” the directions for our lives because instead of listening and following Him, we think we know best and go our own way? If you think you are too far down a path to head a different way, you are mistaken. No matter what path you are on or how long or far you have gone down it, there is always time to change directions.

It is no secret – there is another way.

John 14:6 says, “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way…'”

Jesus was born to be “the way” for you and I to be saved. Recalculate now if necessary!
