“Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not to lose heart…” – Luke 18:1
One New Year’s Eve while in college, several of my friends and I attended a Christian retreat in Chicago. It was a great time with lots of wonderful preaching and fellowship; however, it was what happened with this large group of college kids – yes, college kids – just before and during the stroke of midnight that made an impact on my life.
There were over a thousand kids together in a hotel ballroom PRAYING in the New Year. I will never forget it. To pray is not the least we can do; it’s the greatest thing we can do. Jesus valued prayer. Just look at His teachings and His life. May we all make prayer and time spent in God’s Word a top priority in 2020.
“What the church needs today is not more or better machinery, not new organizations, or more novel methods. She needs men whom the Holy Spirit can use – men of prayer, men mighty in prayer. The Holy Spirit does not flow through methods, but through men…
He does not anoint plans, but men – men of prayer!” (E.M. Bounds)
