The Sower: July 2021

“For a time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.” 2 Timothy 4:3-4

It is not, “If ever the time will come,” but rather, “the time has come!” Sound doctrine? Absolute Truth? NO WAY! Tell me something I want to hear. Tell me something that makes me feel good. Tell me something that says I am ok living like I am living – living for me, living for the moment, living without regard for others, and, most of all, without regard for God. Stop! Turn back! Turn right or left; just do whatever it takes to get back on the path toward God. Most new tractors are outfitted with GPS to help a farmer stay straight when planting to maximize every acre to its fullest potential and enjoy the rewards of a larger harvest. But the GPS is no good just being in the tractor. It must be activated and allowed to do what it was designed to do. God is alive! God is real! The consequences of turning away from God are real! The rewards of yielding, surrendering, and following God are real and eternal. God’s promise of old is still His promise today.

“…and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)
