“Blessed be the Lord, because He has heard the voice of my supplication. The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart exults, And with my song I shall thank Him.” Psalm 28:6-7
The first five verses in the Psalm above are a prayer for help, and verses six through nine are a praise for its answer. This year has been an unusual one for most, if not all, farmers. A late and very sporadic, wet spring made it difficult to get crops in the ground.
During those spring and early summer months, there were lots of prayers for God’s help. As harvest has begun and the Thanksgiving holiday is upon us, let us not forget to follow our prayers for help with many prayers of thanks and praise. It is so easy to scream out to God when in despair and then overlook His faithfulness in answered prayers. “…my heart exults and with my song I shall thank Him.”
To you and your, prayers for a blessed Thanksgiving with family and friends. – mek
