“Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done.” – Luke 22:42
You can read of David’s desire to build the Lord a house to dwell in in 1 Chronicles 16-23. God spoke to David through Nathan and said it was not for David to build the Lord’s house, but rather it would be David’s son, Solomon, that would build the temple. David responded in obedience. He did not build a house for God. He surrendered his will so God’s Will would be done.
Although the world would have us believe it is all about “me, me, me…” in reality, it is all about Thee. It is all about loving God and loving others. Stop, look around, and listen. This “have it your way,” my way, my will is just not working. Never has. Never will. Our prayer must be…yet not my will, but Yours be done.
Oh God, please hear our prayer.
